Sports has always been a passion of mine. There's never been anything more thrilling to me than watching an evenly matched game whether it be in football, baseball, basketball, or even tennis. As such, this blog will be dedicated to sports, but with a bit of a twist.
The life of an athlete can be difficult and unforgiving at times. In the case of a student athlete, they're constantly under the microscope. Critics will follow them to the ends of the earth just to get a story out. However, they're all the same! "Karl scored a disappointing eight points, George only picked up 10 yards, blah, blah, blah!"
This blog will not focus on the "in your face" statistics that so often plague the world of sports. Here, I will be going into detail about how athletes make their way through life and even how they find ways to preoccupy themselves while away from the game. I may even introduce some sports that many haven't discovered for themselves yet.
As previously stated, sports can be unforgiving. The overwhelming pervasiveness of the expectations, and pressure can crumble an athletes spirit. So, expect mental health to be an ongoing theme as I've always been an advocate for it, especially amongst athletes.
I hope readers may discover a new side of sports by viewing this blog. The end goal would be to inspire readers to look past the "in your face" statistics and come to appreciate athletes for who they are and not judge these people based on their performance in sports. At the end of the day, that's all athletes are: just people like you and I.
